Endodontics is the dental term for a “root canal” service.
What is a root canal and why would you need one? A root canal is a glorified filling. The filling material (called gutta percha) is placed in the roots of teeth after they have been properly cleaned and shaped. The procedure is required when the nerve of a tooth has been traumatized physically, infected by bacteria, or both.
Generally, a tooth that is heat sensitive or hurts spontaneously (toothache) will require a root canal to eliminate the pain.
Every member of our team provides root canal therapy. In addition, some of our team members also provide endodontic surgery, a procedure where the tips of the infected tooth roots are removed.
